Mary Ellen Withrow came to Pleasant for an assembly. Friday, March 1st marks the 30th anniversary of her being sworn in as treasurer of the United States. She is the first person to hold the office of treasurer at the local, state, and national levels.
Withrow is also recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records for her signature being on $1.1 trillion worth of currency.
