During the last school year, children and families benefitted from no cost school meals for all students, made possible by special permission from the United States Department of Agriculture. Unfortunately, these permissions have expired. Pleasant Local Schools and the Ohio Department of Education cannot extend the permissions for a no-cost meals for all students.
School meals will be available to all students; however, they WILL NOT BE FREE to all students. Households may apply for free or reduced-price meal benefits by filling out an application as was done before the pandemic. The applications will be available to be downloaded through pleasantlocalschools.org, picked up at our Elementary School and Secondary Education buildings. You can email me at [email protected] or call 740-361-9276 and I will either email you and application or mail one to your address. I will be sending home one with each student that attends the Elementary School in their parent packet the first day of school August 30th. Eligibility for free/reduced price lunch is based on federal income guidelines (listed in the application) or participation in other programs such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Ohio Works First. For additional information concerning the National School Lunch Program, please see the U.S. Department of Agriculture school lunch questions and answer webpage. If you have received a letter stating your student/s are free for the 2022-2023 school year in the mail you will not need to fill out a free/reduced application. Please read the letter and make sure all the students that attend Pleasant Local Schools and live in your household are listed. In the envelope there will be a free/reduced Waiver form, please complete the form for all your child/ren to get their school fees waived. If I don’t receive a signed and completed waiver your children(s) school fees will not be waived.
